light box type sign

The typeface for the Inflight gallery sign was chosen as a homage to the old letter-press font ‘Haassche Akzidenz Grotesk’ (the original typeface which became Helvetica later). The unique irregularities of a printed letter-press letter with its ever so slightly bleeding outlines, was transfered onto a 1.6m sign. Almost like using a looking glas whilst reading a page in a book. The letters have slightly organic looking edges which gives them a bit of a ‘character’, on a brand new sign. (Design by Nicola Smith and Nadine Kessler)
